Whirlpool is an American multinational manufacturer and marketer of home appliances. The Fortune 500 company has annual revenue of approximately $20 billion, marketing Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Gladiator GarageWorks, Inglis, Estate, Brastemp, Bauknecht, Indesit and Consul. In 2006, Whirlpool became the largest home appliance maker in the world.
With the launch of Whirlpool’s LED light bulbs, Whirlpool was looking for a campaign to bring awareness to the market. Determining that saving money on energy costs and bulb replacements was a major selling point – I developed the Switch & Save campaign to just show how much consumers can really save.
To really show the average consumer how much they could save, I developed the concept for the Switch & Save Calculator. In the calculator, you input the number of rooms in your house and then input the different types of lightbulbs used in each room. Using average energy costs from their location, the calculator can determine the bulb and energy savings from making the switch from traditional to LED bulbs. You’re then brought to a product page where you can quickly and easily purchase all the replacement bulbs for your house, while showing the consumer that the purchase pays for itself in a matter of years.
